The Gospel according to John

The odd one out. John shares little material with the other three, tells fewer stories at greater length, and opens before the beginning of the world.

9. 9 A Man Born Blind Sees Jesus heals a blind man on the Sabbath and upends everything.

12. 12 Mary Anoints Jesus at Bethany Six days before the Passover, Jesus returns to Bethany and faces what is coming.
13. 13 The Last Supper and the Foot-Washing Jesus washes his disciples’ feet, then says one of them will hand him over and Peter will deny him.
14. 14 Jesus Comforts His Disciples and Promises the Spirit Before he leaves them, Jesus promises a way, a helper, and peace.
15. 15 The Vine and the Branches Jesus speaks of remaining in him, loving one another, and facing the world’s hatred.
16. 16 Sorrow Will Turn to Joy Jesus prepares his disciples for sorrow, the Spirit’s coming, and a joy no one can take away.
17. 17 Jesus Prays for His Disciples and All Believers Before his arrest, Jesus prays for unity, protection, and glory.
18. 18 Jesus Is Arrested and Brought to Trial In a garden at night, Jesus is handed over, and Peter denies him three times.
19. 19 Pilate Hands Jesus Over to Be Crucified Jesus is flogged, mocked, condemned, crucified, and laid in a tomb.
20. 20 The Empty Tomb and the Risen Jesus From darkness and tears to recognition, peace, and the breath of life.
21. 21 Jesus Appears by the Sea of Tiberias The risen Jesus meets his disciples on the shore after a long, empty night.
